Boeing invests $450 million in a network of autonomous flying cabs

Boeing has invested a large sum in the American company Wisk Aero. The company will be responsible for the development of autonomous evTOL vehicles that will change the air transportation market. Giant aviation companies are increasingly looking toward an electrified and fully autonomous future. One of them is the U.S. Boeing, which has long been developing its plan to conquer fast and convenient public transportation.

Wisk Aero is a relatively small company that has achieved its first successes in the design of vertical takeoff and landing flying cabs. Boeing recently decided to fund the effort with $450 million, Reuters reported.

Such a significant amount is intended to speed up work on flying cabs and ensure that they can be tested more efficiently. This, in turn, will lead to Wisk receiving its safety certification more quickly.

This is not the first time Boeing has teamed up to expand and modernize its airline operations. Some time ago, the company signed a contract with Porsche. As part of the partnership, the manufacturers will form an international team to address various aspects of air mobility over cities, including an analysis of the market potential of premium cars and possible applications.

Boeing Strategy Director Mark Allen has also not ruled out collaboration with smaller startups, which could lead to accelerated changes in passenger aviation.
