Biden unveiled new plan to fight coronavirus without a lockdown

U.S. President Joe Biden has unveiled a plan to continue fighting the spread of a new coronavirus in the country for the winter that will not involve new severe sanitary restrictions in the country.

“Today I have come to announce our plan of action to combat COVID-19 this winter. And it does not include shutdowns or lockdowns,” he said, speaking at the National Institutes of Health headquarters in suburban Washington, D.C.

Instead, the president said, the emphasis would be on large-scale vaccination and revaccination of the population, as well as expanding opportunities for testing for the coronavirus.

That said, he said, U.S. residents should be prepared for the number of cases to rise during the winter anyway. “Experts say the number of coronavirus cases will continue to rise in the next weeks of winter. So we need to be prepared,” Joe Biden stressed.
