Biden to Travel to Louisiana to Assess Hurricane Impact
U.S. President Joe Biden will travel to the state of Louisiana affected by Hurricane Ida on Friday. The White House press office released a statement to that effect Wednesday.
“The president will travel to New Orleans, Louisiana, on Friday, Sept. 3, to examine the damage caused by Hurricane Ida and meet with state and local leaders of affected communities,” the text reads.
Hurricane Ida struck Louisiana on Sunday and soon weakened into a tropical storm. At least six people were victims of the elements.
Heavy rain and gusty winds persisted in parts of Louisiana and Mississippi afterward. A tornado threat was declared in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.
