Biden said he considers Vietnam to be the most important partner of the United States

Joe Biden said he considers Vietnam a crucial partner for the United States and expressed confidence that the countries have great prospects for developing bilateral cooperation.

“I think we have great opportunities in front of us,” the White House press pool quoted the US chief of staff as saying at a meeting in Hanoi with Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. “Vietnam and the US are critical partners in what I would call a very important period. I am not saying this out of politeness. I say this from the bottom of my heart,” Biden added.

The American president expressed confidence that the countries are seeking lasting peace, “greater security and prosperity.” “I am convinced that we can achieve that,” Biden added. “This can be the beginning of an era of even greater cooperation,” he suggested.

The White House said earlier that during Biden’s initial visit to Vietnam, the two sides will announce the signing of a bilateral “strategic partnership” agreement, which will cover the security sector, among other things.
