The United States intends to continue assisting Ukraine. U.S. President Joe Biden said this in a written statement released by the White House on Thursday following his phone conversation with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

“President Zelensky contacted me this evening, and we just finished talking. I condemned this unprovoked and unjustified attack by the Russian Armed Forces. I briefed him on the steps we are taking to seek international condemnation, including tonight during the U.N. Security Council meeting,” Biden said.

“Zelensky asked me to urge the leaders of the world to speak out clearly against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s blatant aggression and stand with the people of Ukraine,” Biden added. He said the U.S. “will continue to support and assist Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.”
