Biden called himself an “artificial intelligence”

Joe Biden jokingly referred to himself as “artificial intelligence” while delivering a brief speech at the White House on the issues of development with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the observance of precautionary measures.

The speech was attended by senior executives from major U.S. technology companies, including the presidents of Microsoft, Google and Meta. One of the journalists allowed at the event jokingly asked these businessmen before Biden’s speech began if they were real or if reporters were being shown an example of AI-enabled development. The businessmen laughed, one of them smilingly patted himself on his forearms to show he was a live person, at which point Biden entered the room and said: “AI is me.” Those in attendance burst into laughter.

In his speech, Joe Biden stated that AI not only presents “incredible favorable opportunities” in the economy, but also brings “enormous risk” to society and national security. Companies engaged in such innovations have a great responsibility to ensure that their products are safe.
