Biden announced his intention to exclude Afghanistan from major U.S. allies outside NATO

President Joe Biden has notified Congress that he intends to strip Afghanistan of its status as Washington’s main ally outside the North Atlantic Alliance.

A statement to this effect was released Wednesday by the White House press service.

It said Biden “intends to revoke the inclusion of Afghanistan as a key ally outside NATO.”
