Apple showed how it tests new iPhones for water resistance

Apple’s management believes that electronic devices should have high survivability, not break down, be durable and waterproof. In short, everything that not all modern gadgets can boast of.

About how the “fight for survivability” of future iPhones told in his YouTube videos popular technoblogger Marques Brownlee, who was lucky enough to visit one of Apple’s secret laboratories, where tests for water resistance.

The first video shows tests of the iPhone 15 model, which is immersed in fresh water at a depth of 1.5 meters for half an hour, and then tested for dust resistance.

In total, Brownlee showed four “water” tests – simulated rain, the impact from different directions of several jets of low pressure, dousing from a fire hose and, finally, immersion in water at a depth of one and a half meters for a long time.

In the neighboring laboratory is a struggle for the durability of future iPhones. There, engineers are studying the results of numerous “falls” of the gadget thanks to a special robot manipulator. And next door, its “colleague” – another device shakes the iPhone at certain frequencies, imitating, for example, the shaking of a motorcycle engine or a subway car.
