Apple is developing a robotic helping hand for the smart home
Apple is working on an unnamed device, on which in Cupertino have very high hopes. It is known under the index J595, invented back in 2022, but the main work on it began only recently – for these purposes have gathered a team of several hundred specialists. The project is headed by Kevin Lynch, who was responsible for the unsuccessful project of creating an unmanned car Apple. On the other hand, the J595 project is supported by CEO Tim Cook and Apple’s head of hardware John Ternus.
The basic idea is to find a physical application for Apple Intelligence service and gain a foothold in the robotics market. To develop a new niche that will allow the company to capitalize on unfamiliar products. It is assumed that the firstborn will be a robotic stand, a universal desktop arm that will be able to control other devices from the category of “smart home”.
The practicality of the novelty is not too obvious, the manipulator holds the semblance of an iPad tablet, and moves it so that the user is comfortable working with it. This is more like a technology demonstrator, as the robot will support voice commands, obey Siri and perform various useful actions as part of the operation of Apple’s eco-system. If the venture succeeds, the company will have the opportunity to create other smart home devices that will work as part of a unified system.
A working sample is expected to be unveiled at the turn of 2026-2027. The company is working hard to keep the price tag within $1,000, otherwise the commercial appeal of the robotic arm will be in serious doubt.
