Barack and Michelle Obama endorsed Kamala Harris’ candidacy for President of the United States

Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle supported the candidacy of Kamala Harris for the presidency. This was announced by the Vice President herself by releasing a minute-long video of a phone conversation between Harris and Barack and Michelle Obama.

“We’re calling to say that Michelle and I are proud to support you and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure you win this election and get into the Oval Office,” the 44th president of the United States told Kamala Harris. Michelle Obama added that “this will be a historic occasion.”

In response, the Vice President thanked for the support, emphasizing that “it means a lot to her.”

It was previously reported that preliminary reports indicate that Vice President Kamala Harris has already garnered enough support to become the official Democratic presidential nominee. Earlier this week, the Associated Press reported that at that time the number of delegates supporting her at the party convention had already exceeded 2,200, while the nomination requires 1,976 votes.

Barack Obama, who served as president from 2009 to 2017, remains one of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party even more than a decade after he was elected to his last term.

According to YouGov rankings, which are regularly updated based on public polls, Barack Obama is the second most popular Democrat, behind only former President Jimmy Carter. YouGov polls also show that more than half (52%) of Americans have a positive opinion of the 44th head of the White House.

Earlier, Obama commented on US President Joe Biden’s decision to leave the election race. “For Biden, the decision to look back at the political landscape and pass the baton to a new candidate is probably one of the hardest decisions of his life. But I’m sure he wouldn’t have made this decision if he didn’t believe it was the right thing for America,” Obama said.
