Kamala Harris and J.D. Vance may meet at TV debates

Vice President Kamala Harris invited Sen. J.D. Vance to participate in a debate that was to be held, as suggested by Joe Biden’s campaign staff, on Aug. 13 on CBS.

Harris reached out to Vance with a voicemail message after he was Trump’s choice for vice president on Monday.

The two candidates spoke Tuesday, but their teams never agreed on the terms of the debate.

Harris had previously conditioned the debate on CBS on July 23 or Aug. 13, while Trump’s campaign sought a debate on Fox News, to which Joe Biden’s camp responded by disagreeing.

“I think he would be more than happy to participate in the debate,” said Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, referring to Vance.

“I don’t see any reason why he won’t do it. I think it’s important. We traditionally have vice presidential candidate debates. We’d love to see that,” she stated.
