Democrats may replace Biden in the election

Representatives of the US Democratic Party are mulling over replacing Joe Biden with another candidate in the upcoming presidential election in November, but for this the Democrats may need the support of former US leaders Bill Clinton (1993-2001) and Barack Obama (2009-2017).

If the 81-year-old Biden performs poorly in debates with his opponent and presidential contender Donald Trump, or if his ratings continue to decline, established Democratic politicians may try to convince him to drop out of the presidential race.

The only people who could force him out would be Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

In this connection, the newspaper fears that “stubborn Biden may refuse to resign” and stay on until the election, “even if the party becomes increasingly irritated by his actions.” Former President Barack Obama is also negative about Biden’s nomination.

Obama backed former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over Biden in the 2016 Democratic primaries, and allegedly even tried to prevent him from running in 2020 in a presidential race with Trump.

Unnamed political analysts estimate that if Democrats decide to replace Biden, they would need to organize a public event to symbolically hand over power to the new candidate. In doing so, the risk of Trump losing the election to the new candidate would remain.

Biden, who is 81 years old, often makes various disclaimers, verbal bloopers and bizarre behavior in his public appearances. Republicans are using this in a partisan battle to question the head of state’s mental and physical capacity to continue leading the United States.

On June 16, Obama had to drag Biden off stage after speaking at a fundraising event for the incumbent’s campaign in Los Angeles. The recording showed the former and current presidents saying goodbye to the audience from the stage, at one point Biden froze and just smiled, after which Obama took his hand and led him toward the exit.
