Taylor Swift became a Guinness World Record holder for seismic fan activity at her concerts

Guinness World Records officials have officially awarded Taylor Swift the achievement for the largest seismic activity created during a musical event. During the singer’s concert on July 22, 2023, 72,171 people gathered at Lumen Field Stadium, whose combined stomping caused a small earthquake of magnitude 2.3 on the Richter scale.

It is believed that Swift’s team intentionally used the opportunity to set the record straight. The fact is that the previous similar achievement was set there, in this same stadium. That was in 2011 and the seismic equipment has not been changed since then. Thus, it turns out to be an ideal opportunity to compare the past and new indicators to draw a conclusion.

Both records, as well as many others, were recorded by the Seismological Society of America. Its representatives focused only on the readings of sensors around the stadium, they did not assess the nature of the fluctuations. However, for journalists everything is clear – the excitement of sports fans is nothing compared to the energy of music fans, which provokes them to move in a single rhythm.
