Donald Trump expects to win South Carolina primary
Former US President Donald Trump expects to win a fourth consecutive Republican primary, which this time is being held in South Carolina.
Trump approached the primary election in that state with a huge lead in the polls and the support of the state’s leading Republicans. His rival, Niki Haley, for whom South Carolina is her home state, has spent the past few weeks meeting with voters where she warned them that the 77-year-old Trump is “too old and distracted” to be president again.
In all but one primary since 1980, the winner of the South Carolina Republican primary has become the Republican Party’s nominee for president.
