Trump won the caucuses in Nevada
Former President Donald Trump easily won the Nevada caucuses as he continues to move toward becoming the official Republican presidential nominee.
Trump’s third win, following successes in Iowa and New Hampshire, helps him consolidate his control of party procedure.
He also won the Republican caucuses in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Thursday, adding four delegates to the party convention to his bankroll. In Nevada, Trump received 98 percent of the vote.
His main rival, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, received no votes because her candidacy was not discussed at the caucuses.
By winning the caucuses, Trump won 26 delegates from the state. He thanked voters and suggested that the path to victory in the general election would be through Nevada.
“I want to thank the wonderful people of Nevada. If we win this state, we will easily win the election in November,” Trump said.
