Donald Trump’s lawyers have asked the court to postpone the date of the trial on the improper storage of classified documents during the campaign for the presidency of the United States.
Holding the trial during the presidential election would create extraordinary problems in the jury selection process and limit the defendants’ ability to provide a fair and impartial judgment.
According to Donald Trump’s lawyers, the start of the trial, scheduled for December 2023, should be postponed. At the same time, the newspaper notes that they “oppose any trial that would begin during the presidential election.”
