Trump admitted on the record that he did not declassify one of the Pentagon documents

Former U.S. leader Donald Trump admitted on the record that he kept an undisclosed Pentagon document. It had in its possession excerpts from a transcript of the relevant audio recording made after Trump left office as president of the United States.

During a meeting in 2021, the former White House leader said the following: “As president, I could have declassified the document, but I can’t do that now.” The conversation was about the data on the attack on Iran.

Trump supposedly showed the paper to his interlocutors during the conversation. “Look, this is classified information. – The military prepared this and gave it to me.”

On Thursday, Trump said on his Truth Social network that U.S. authorities had notified his lawyers that he would face charges of mishandling classified documents. Trump has been ordered to appear in court in Miami, Florida, on June 13.

According to the former president’s lawyer, Jim Trusty, the charges against Trump relate to an alleged violation of the Espionage Act. Trump will become the first former president in U.S. history to be indicted by federal prosecutors. Trump called the charges against him election interference.
