Blinken plans to visit China on June 18

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken intends to pay a visit to China on June 18, which was originally planned for February. This was reported by the Associated Press agency.

During the visit, Blinken plans to meet with Foreign Minister Qin Gang. He will probably be received by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the agency noted.

Blinken postponed his visit to China in February because in late January U.S. authorities spotted a Chinese balloon over the mainland at an altitude well above standard parameters for commercial air travel.

On February 4, the balloon was shot down by a missile in U.S. airspace. According to the Washington administration, China was using the balloon to gather important information.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry protested the attacks and slander from Washington in this regard. Beijing explained that the Chinese meteorological probe was in U.S. airspace by accident.
