Trump sues journalist for publishing his interview

Former U.S. President Donald Trump sued journalist Bob Woodward for publishing an audiobook with recordings of interviews without his permission.

According to the lawsuit, Trump “repeatedly told him Woodward that such interviews were conducted for the sole purpose” of gathering information to write a printed book. Woodward, according to the former U.S. president, published the recordings without his permission, which “violates the copyright” of the politician.

Trump also insists that he suffered pecuniary damage by not receiving any royalties from the sale of the audiobook. According to the Associated Press, Trump is seeking $50 million in compensation.

The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Pensacola, Florida, the publication notes.

Woodward – an employee of The Washington Post, one of the participants in the journalistic investigation that led to the Watergate scandal (1972-1974) and the resignation of U.S. President Richard Nixon. He has written the books Fear: Trump in the White House (2018), Fury (2020), and Danger (2021), all about Trump. The author conducted more than 200 interviews with various politicians to write the works.
