The Federal Aviation Administration has reauthorized flights in the skies over the United States.

Earlier it had ordered airlines to suspend all departures from U.S. airports until 9 a.m. Eastern Time, due to the failure of the pre-flight notification system (NOTAM).

As of 8:30 a.m., more than 3,700 flights were delayed.

The FAA has been working to restore the system.

Planes already in the air were allowed to continue flying to their destination.

White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said there was no evidence of a cyberattack in the FAA system failure. President Joe Biden was informed of the situation and ordered an investigation.
