U.S. President Biden says new pandemic inevitable
Mankind should be prepared for an inevitable new pandemic, said U.S. President Joe Biden. At the U.S.-Africa Summit in Washington, D.C., the U.S. president discussed cooperation with African leaders.
“And even as we work to end COVID-19, we continue to strengthen health care systems and institutions and work toward universal health care delivery to be prepared to meet health care challenges, including the next pandemic. And it will undoubtedly happen,” Biden said.
He also noted U.S.-African cooperation on AIDS and malaria.
World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus said he hopes the world will end the coronavirus emergency next year.
In November, Gebreyesus said that deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus infection in the world have decreased by almost 90% since February.
