U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris arrived in Thailand, where she plans to reaffirm America’s commitment to Southeast Asia and deliver the message that the region can rely on the United States.
Harris’ arrival at the two-day Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit comes just after U.S. President Joe Biden attended the ASEAN summit in Cambodia and the G-20 meetings in Indonesia.
Harris and other APEC leaders intend to discuss the war in Ukraine, rising inflation, food and energy shortages, and an increasingly assertive China.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is also taking part in the summit, which is being held in Bangkok under heavy security.
