Google Japan has developed a one and a half meter long Gboard keyboard

Google Japan has unveiled an open design for a universal version of the Gboard keyboard, which expands the very notion of a “keyboard” many times over. This is a full-featured device, which can be used for its intended purpose, and two at once – the length of one and a half meters allows it. But why limit yourself, when the essence of Gboard can do much more?

The Gboard project can be categorized as a kind of DIY project, with drawings for 3D-printing components and drivers available in the public domain. The Japanese engineers used the familiar QWERTY layout, but put all the keys in a single row. This fundamentally changes the use of the keyboard, the familiar movement will not help.

A huge minus or plus is that your cat can not walk on the keyboard in one row of keys. But if it drives under the cabinet any object, with the help of Gboard it will not be difficult to get. With the right dexterity and a piece of sticky tape, the keyboard can become a fishing rod, a net or a walker’s pole. It can also be used to measure children’s height like a ruler, or to invent new uses for it.
