Trump called fake media reports that he was denied competent attorneys

Former U.S. President Donald Trump denied reports by The Washington Post that he was looking for new and more experienced lawyers to defend his interests in the situation surrounding the searches at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Trump called the story itself a fake.

“The Washington Post’s story that ‘Trump is having a hard time getting experienced lawyers’ on the Mar-a-Lago raid case is, as usual, a fiction. I already have excellent and experienced lawyers, very happy with them,” the former U.S. leader wrote Thursday on Truth Social.

Trump also stressed that he did “nothing wrong,” and he “has not been charged with anything.”

In an article published Wednesday, The Washington Post wrote that Trump and his aides are trying to assemble a “team of respected lawyers,” but they refuse to represent the politician. According to the newspaper, Trump intends to find a criminal defense attorney with extensive experience working with the U.S. Justice Department. The newspaper’s sources claim that confidants of the 45th president of the United States and his advisors are extremely concerned about the lawyers who already work for him. In their estimation, most of them have almost no experience in these kinds of cases.

On August 8, FBI agents conducted a search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Intelligence agents focused on the former president’s office and the facilities where Trump resides when he stays in Florida.

According to the warrant that went public Aug. 12, the search was part of an investigation into the unlawful use of defense information, theft and destruction of documents. The list of seized items attached to the warrant includes “Miscellaneous Top Secret Documents,” “Classified Documents,” and “Confidential Documents,” among others.
