Biden extended funding for the U.S. government through March 11

President Biden on Friday signed an initiative to temporarily fund the federal government through March 11. A notification about this was distributed by the press service of the White House.

The U.S. fiscal year 2021 ended on Sept. 30, but lawmakers have yet to agree on a full budget for 2022. Because of this, they are forced to pass temporary resolutions to extend funding for the government.

The previous such document is in effect until Feb. 18. If a new resolution had not been approved by that time, the U.S. could have faced a new government shutdown. The last time this happened was on December 22, 2018, which resulted in civil servants going on forced leave for a record long period of 35 days.
