Nearly 114,000 people in Massachusetts left without power due to snowfall
Nearly 114,000 people in Massachusetts were without power on Saturday due to a snow storm that hit the U.S. East Coast.
By 11:30 local time, more than 113,900 people faced power outages. The most severe situation is in the coastal areas, where the sharp gusts of wind began flooding, about 40% of consumers were left without electricity.
In some areas of the state in less than a day had fallen more than 30 cm of snow. According to the forecast, about 5 cm of precipitation will fall every hour throughout the day, which will be accompanied by strong wind gusts. “Travel in the coming hours will be incredibly dangerous or nearly impossible,” the U.S. National Weather Service warned residents of the state – Boston.
Forecasters predicted heavy snowfall, low temperatures and sharp wind gusts will remain in the northeast until early next week.
